From change to transformation? Digitalisation, industrial relations and job quality in the Italian public sector

This Research Paper, a part of the European Commission-funded project ‘DIGIQU@LPUB,’ examines how digitalization is affecting work and the quality of services in three areas of Italy’s public sector: electricity, public administration and healthcare. Seeing digitalisation as an “adaptive challenge”, the authors posit that the degree to which changes are transformative, for workers and citizens, will depend on the quality of social dialogue, the right policy framework, and the participation of those most directly affected by digitalisation in shaping the future of work in the public sector.
