The impact of EU’s financial instruments on the European Green Deal

Researchers involved: Sebastiano Sabato, Slavina Spasova, Paolo Graziano (external), Filippo Grisolia (external), Federica Fleischmann (external)

The project examines the extent to which the European Union’s 2021–2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) has supported eco-social policies. The focus is on five major funding instruments –the Just Transition Fund (JTF), the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Cohesion Fund – and two case studies (Bulgaria and Italy).  On the basis of this analysis, we will propose concrete policy recommendations on how to strengthen the socio-ecological dimension of the post-2027 MFF.

The research project relies on the review of relevant scientific literature, documentary analysis,  and  the findings from three semi-structured interviews to key informants.
